- Description
-
Spike O'Donnell sits on a bench. He wears a checked suit, brimmed hat, and has a coat slung over his left arm. His right arm is bent and his hand rests on his right thigh. A paper bag is on the ground under the bench. He is looking at the camera, unsmiling.
Edward J. "Spike" O'Donnell, a Chicago beer runner, was in Los Angeles when he was charged with vagrancy. On a mutual agreement, he agreed to leave Los Angeles years instead of going to jail.
A different photograph of Spike O'Donnell taken on the same day appears with the article "O'Donnell Quits City: Jail for 'Spike' if He Returns," Los Angeles Times, 19 Apr 1934: A1.
