- Description

The camera looks from above towards several investigators searching for evidence in the area outside a chicken coop in Mint Valley. Chicken wire-lined pens occupy the foreground and stretch back on an upward angle towards the right. Beyond the pens, investigators scour the nearby brush. A house stands in the far distance at center. Gordon S. Northcott was later tried, convicted and executed for the serial murders of young boys in the area. His mother, Sarah Louisa Northcott, was also imprisoned for assisting him.
Similar photographs of the Northcott investigation appear in a photo spread titled: "Paradoxical Situations Complicate Task of Investigators in Butcher Farm Quest: Principals and Scenes in Butcher Farm Investigation," Los Angeles Times, 16 Sep. 1928: A3
