The arrival of George Haldeman, who was forced down in New Mexico on his attempted nonstop flight from New York to Los Angeles, was the main feature of the International Air Races at Mines Field when the famous flier swooped down out of a clear sky and landing on the field at 1:21 PM today. Photo shows Shirley Short (left) and George Haldeman just as they arrived at Mines Field. (LA FM 14) 9/14/28
