Seen from behind, the Navy submarine, the USS Narwhal, anchored to the San Pedro port while on display to the public. Next to her is her sister ship, the USS Nautilus, and next to that [barely visible in this image] is the USS Bass. At the time they were three of the world's largest submarines, each with crews of more than 80 men.
