The Union Pacific Railroad's M-10000 express passenger train, the first with an internal combustion engine, about to depart Los Angeles at 10 p.m. (probably) for a record-breaking run across the continent. Conductor standing on the right holding a string across the track, reporters and other officials crowd the platform at Union Pacific East Los Angeles Station.
