New York lead in the 220-yard race. Behind and to the left of them, Spies(?) (U.S.S. California) goalposts his arms as he runs. The rest of the field trails behind them at left. A few spectators at right view the race from behind a wire fence that lines the outside of the track. Empty bleachers at right rise behind them.
