1927 was the first year the the Rose Parade had a theme, "Songs in Flowers," with each float typifying a song
"Columbia, Gem of the Ocean" float with the Statue of Liberty and the frigate Constitution, called "Old Ironsides" accompanied by small boys in army and navy uniforms. The float was designed by L. W. Chobe and entered by the city of Glendale.
