- Description
-
Irene, the prolific costume designer and wardrobe supervisor for United Artists and Columbia throughout the 1930's and 1940's, began her career as an actress in a few silent films, often credited as Irene Lentz.
The 1958 film, "The Golden Age of Comedy," chronicles the variety of comedic styles and talent at the height of Hollywood's silent era. The film was culled from 2,000 reels of Mack Sennett and Hal Roach short film comedies and divided into eight acts with a prologue and finale. This photograph was taken from a scene from the 1923 (released January 6, 1924) silent film, "Ten Dollars or Ten Days," starring Ben Turpin.
