- Don (Donald Angelo) Barksdale was a basketball player. While at UCLA, he became the first African American named All-American in 1947. He was also the first African American to play on the U.S. Olympic basketball team, in the 1948 Summer Olympics. He later went on to play basketball in the NBA, with the Baltimore Bullets and Boston Celtics.
