Thomas R. Yarborough was the chauffeur and handyman to evangelist Aimee Semple McPherson, who gave him property at Lake Elsinore in Riverside County.
Herbert Faires was a chiropractor.

Description

Thomas Yarborough is the man standing at the far left. Leon Washington is standing at center, wearing a beret. Florita Ware is directly to the right of Washington. Dr. H. H. Towles is seated in back at the far right. Herbert Faires is seated in the front middle. Charlotte Strange is the third woman from the right, wearing a bikini top tied with a bow. Irene Marvin the forth woman from the right, wearing a locket.

Lake Elsinore (in Riverside County), along with Val Verde and a small section of Venice Beach, was one of the few places African Americans could go for recreation during this era. Thomas (Tom) R. Yarborough was the owner of the property on the lake where this photograph was taken.
