- Description
- Bobby Grayson and Keith Topping, two of Stanford University football's legendary "Vow Boys," at practice, possibly in preparation for the 1936 Rose Bowl. The "Vow Boys" of Stanford's 1934-1936 football seasons were so named because they swore that they would never be defeated by USC's Trojans. They never were. The legacy of the "Vow Boys" apexed with the 1936 Rose Bowl, which they won against Southern Methodist University. Keith Topping was named Most Valued Player of that game. The "Vow Boys" also went to the 1934 and 1935 Rose Bowls, but did not win those games.
