- ROOM TO SPARE--Rick Wohlhuter has plenty of daylight between himself and the field in winning AAU 800 meters in American record time of 1:43.9. Wohlhuter, world record holder at 880 yards, was approximately 8 to 10 yards ahead of John Walker of New Zealand, who finished 2nd.
