- HUGE TANKER ARRIVES--The 1,068-foot supertanker E. Hornsby Wasson, 50 feet longer than the Queen Mary, lies off Santa Catalina Island following arrival with the largest load of oil--1,570,000 barrels--ever delivered to West Coast. Load will be pumped into smaller tankers for delivery to El Segundo and Richmond refineries. the Wasson was first ship to leave Saudi Arabia for U.S. after lifting of embargo.
