- John Powers (left), Occidental College student, and another athlete running a race at Occidental College, with four standing spectators. The outspread arms of the racers suggest that they may be approaching the finish line. John Powers made the U.S.A. Olympic Trials in 1924 at 400 meters, was the Occidental College record holder in the 440 and was a member of the 1924 Championship Mile Relay at the Penn Relays. He graduated from Occidental College in 1924.
