Description: Eclipse photographs were published with the heading "As it looked to street observer," Los Angeles Times, 29 Apr. 1930: 2. The photographs were taken from the roof of the Los Angeles Times building, located on the north east corner of First and Broadway.

Text from newspaper caption: “Times” Photographer Snaps Event. These four photographs of the eclipse of the sun at various stages were taken yesterday by Paul Strite, Times staff photographer, from the roof of The Times Building with an ingenious camera equipment. Strite used a cardboard tube eight feet long attached to his usual newspaper camera in place of a lens. The photographs were taken through a pin-hole in the metal cover of the tube. The third photograph was taken at 10L58 a.m. when the sun was 86 percent covered by the moon.
