- Guests at a luncheon given in honor of the dancer La Argentina (also known as Antonia Mercé y Luque). Seated, from left: Ruth Eleanor Howard (founder of The American Dancer magazine), Lettie Niese and Henry C. Niese (Argentine Consul), La Argentina, and L. E. Behymer (music and theatrical manager). Standing, from left: Maurice Kusell (dancer and actor), Thomas M. Shelby, Alisa Ryan, Arnold Meckel (manager for La Argentina), and Norma Gould (dancer, choreographer and dance educator). The event was sponsored by the Dancing Teachers’ Business Association and the Dancers’ Protective League of Southern California, at the Jonathan Club.
