ENGLISH: Tomás Willka, from Oruro (Bolivia),and Julián, from the region of Puno (Perú) are interviewed by Juan de Dios Yapita. First Tomás narrates a folktale (layra parla) that his grandfather (achachila) told him as a way of teaching him. The story is of the Bet between the Bird Monster and the Condor (Lari larinti Kunturinti). Julián then narrates the story of The Bird and the Maiden (Jamach'inti mä Tawaqunti). He comments that this story was told to him by his grandmother when he was a child, when they were asked to do homework at school with stories, and so his grandmother told him this knowledge at night during dinner. He explains that these stories told by the grandparents were a way of educating, instructing and recommending children about life and about having best relationships between siblings, family members and spouses, and with the community in general.
