- Description
-
Illustrated pages from the story, "Ogwalla Springs," written by Adelbert Bartlett, possibly drawn by Mrs. Williams (no full name or initials on illustration). Page at left depicts two views of the road entering and leaving "Ogwalla." Text on sign hanging from a post at top reads: "Welcome to Ogwalla." [Text in parenthesis:] "at or near beginning." Text on sign hanging from a post at bottom reads: "Ogwalla Bids You Come Again." [Text in parenthesis:] "at or near end." Illustration at right depicts a woman wearing a cowboy hat, boots, a neckerchief and star studded wrist band, holding a gun and shooting at a target. Text above her reads: "Take this! and this!! and this!!" A Native American man wearing a feathered head piece and beads around his neck peeps into view at right. Space is left for additional text, followed by a rope border and the number "3" - likely indicating the page number.
