- Description
- View from Broadway facing southwest towards First St. The old Los Angeles Times building and the adjacent building on the same block are being prepared for the May 1938 demolition. There is scaffolding around the base of both buildings. A sign on the adjacent building reads: "Being Wrecked by LA Wrecking Co. Inc., 810 E. 9th ... VA5135." A man on the 3rd floor of the adjacent building is handing wooden beams to a man on top of the scaffolding, who hands them to a man on the flatbed of a truck parked next to the scaffolding. A painted sign on the Times building reads: "Los Angeles Times, Largest Home Delivered Circulation on the Pacific Coast." The clock tower with its neon "Times" sign is visible above the roof line of the adjacent building. Old signs on the adjacent build read: "Double Cola," and "Old Mis[sion]."
