Border Security and Immigration

As we get closer to the November election, Illegal Immigrants (and those who support them) are showing more of their true colors.

Mexican protesters raise the flag of a foreign nation...Saturday, August 26th, 2006:
While Art attended the "Save Our State" rally in Maywood, California, (a town known for openly defying state and federal immigration laws) a group of nearly 200 Pro-Illegal protestors took down the American Flag from the local Post Office and replaced it with the Flag of Mexico.

Prior to the scuffle, one of Art's staff was attacked by the pro-illegal immigration supporters. She is recovering from multiple bruises from being beaten to the ground, and repeatedly kicked.

Art Olivier believes that our current laws against Illegal Immigration need to be enforced by our federal government before more scenes of violence like this continue unabated.

Taking a stance AGAINST ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION is not considered to be a smart choice during an election, but Art knows what it means to "do the right thing". Here is more information you should know about this controversial topic:

Benefits

The Governor is encouraging illegal immigration by declaring that illegal immigrants have rights to health care, schooling and so on. There are billions of people in the world that could improve their lives by taking advantage of the benefits the Governor is offering but California cannot prosper if we are forced to take care of everyone that comes here illegally. There should not be any public benefits to people that are here illegally.

Children

The 14th Amendment of the Constitution is used to grant citizenship to babies of illegal immigrants. This should be challenged. One of the amendment's key authors, Michigan Sen. Jacob Howard, explained in 1866 that the citizenship clause, intended to ensure the rights of former slaves, "would not, of course, include persons born in the United States who are foreigners, aliens, who belong to the families of ambassadors or foreign ministers accredited to the Government of the United States..."

Criminals

After arresting someone for a crime, most law enforcement agencies do not question a person's citizen status. This is in violation of Penal Code Section 834b(a) which states "Every law enforcement agency in California shall fully cooperate with the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service (now Immigration and Customs Enforcement) regarding any person who is arrested if he or she is suspected of being present in the United States in violation of federal immigration laws."  State funding for law enforcement agencies that violate this provision should be suspended until they come into compliance with 834b.

Immigrants used to come to America seeking freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and freedom from government. Now they come looking for free health care, free education, and a free lunch. --Harry Browne, Libertarian Presidential Candidate & Art Olivier's running mate in 2000
